Swim Meet Information

Some swim meets provide information for new families (and reminders for previous families :)

When to arrive: Warmups begin at 5:00 and the meet starts at 6:00. We warm-up by age groups so 8 and Under will warm up first. When families arrive, parents will want to buy a heat sheet or use the SwimTopia app for swimmer events. A heat sheet will also be posted on the wall by the drinking fountain. Swimmers are allowed a maximum of two individual events and two relays. Some swimmers will only swim a couple of events due to ability, etc. Swimmers who can swim multiple strokes will swim more events.

Swimmers will want their events written on their arms- [Events, Heat, Lane, Stroke] - (if you are new to swimming, I would find a parent who knows what they are doing :) We also request that a parent write the information as coaches are busy with warmups (especially at home meets) and do not have time to write swimmer events on arms.

What to bring: Extra towels and clothes and maybe some snacks. It gets cooler in the evenings in the shade, and when swimmers are wet, they tend to get cold.

Volunteers: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! Thank you for signing up to volunteer, As of now there is only 1 spot unfilled for Wednesday’s meet - Announcer. Announcing is an easy job- sit in a chair and announce events and names:). Volunteers help our swim meets run smoothly.

Seating: The Prairie Lane swimmer area is on the East side under the tents, the other team sits on the West side under the tents. Parents can line up chairs on both sides of the pool or sit to the North of the pool (You will want to bring your own chairs since the lounge chairs will be put away). **This year we will be using Blender Bobby (West Cabana) for the computer data entry so that Cabana will be in use.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out.   There are plenty of families who have been part of the Prairie Lane Swim Family for many years and are willing to assist if you have questions.
